Late 18th/early 19th century.
Four Portrait Miniatures in gilt frames each depicting a Noble woman of the Court.
The first depicts a young woman with 'Le Pouf' hair do, embellished with pearls, ribbon, ostrich feathers and black gloves, symbolizing she is a widow.4 1/2in x 3in (11.5cm. x 7.5cm)
The second, a round portrait, depicting a young woman, her hair dressed with diamonds. 3in. x 4in (7.5cm.x 10cm)
The third, a young woman her hair dressed in crescent moon and pearl 'a la Turque.' within a gilt and jeweled frame. 2 1/2in. x 3 1/2in (6cm. x 9cm)
The fourth a Regency era young woman in Empire style gown.

Miniature portraits were diplomatic and personal gifts in an age before photography
Delicately painted on vellum laid down on playing cards they were intimate images intended to be viewed in the hand, near the eye.
