Bruce Conner (1933–2008) was an American artist known for his diverse work in film, assemblage, and collage, emerging as a key figure in the San Francisco counterculture and Beat scene. He was born in McPherson, Kansas, studied at the University of Nebraska, and became influential for his 'found footage' films like Crossroads and for his assemblages made from discarded objects like nylon stockings and broken dolls. His art often explored themes of consumerism, sexuality, and death, and he worked in a wide range of media, including drawing, sculpture, painting, and photography
