Continental Tromp l'Oeil Painted Panel Mid 19th Century Depicting ribbon tied floral swag suspending a medallion with an allegory of music, putti with sheet music and instruments, above a central framed image of Country Gentlemen fishing in a bucolic stream. 89in. w. 84 w. o/c on board. Provenance: Previously installed in the San Francisco home of Alice Babcock, built for her wedding in 1880 by her father, William F. Babcock, Director of Spring Valley Water Company, the monopoly water provider for San Francisco 1860-1930.
