Born in Houston, TX on Dec. 3, 1912. Ella Wharton was educated at Briarcliff, Smith College, and UC Berkeley (BA, 1933). The years 1934-37 were spent in Paris as a pupil of Sonia Delaunay. Returning to California, she married Jean Alluisi and lived in Point Richmond and on the Sonoma coast before settling in Santa Cruz in 1953.
