Five Japanese Tsuba
Edo Period and later.
A collection of five iron and mixed metal tsuba of various forms and decorative styles. Including:
First is an iron tsuba decorated with bamboo, pine tree, plum blossoms and distant mountains in gold and silver inlay,
Second is an iron rustic tsuba;
Third is a rounded iron tsuba of rustic form with natural corrosion and gold highlights,
Fourth is an iron mokko shaped tsuba decorated with flowering vines in gilt takazogan,
Fifth is a refined iron tsuba with a flowering plant and incense burner in mixed-metal inlay, signed with incised five characters.
Diameter of the largest: 3 inches (7.8 cm).
Condition: Overall wear, oxidation and surface corrosion consistent with age and use. Decorative inlays with minor losses.
