Condition: Plate paint decorated with an apple has a chip to the gilt rim.

These botanical decorations originated with with the command in 1752, of King Frederik V of Denmark to catalogue all the plants of the kingdom. The engraved botanical images were first used for decoration on a dinner service commissioned as a gift to the Russian Empress, Catherine II in 1790.
