Florence Knoll furthered her architectural education under leading figures of the Bauhaus movement. and worked for Walter Gropius and Marcel Breuer. She enrolled at the Chicago Armour Institute in fall 1940 to specifically study under Mies van der Rohe and received a bachelor's degree in architecture in 1941.
Florence Knoll believed that a well designed desk facilitated communication. She labored over the relationship between this table top and its legs to achieve effective collaboration.
