This set of spoons were most likely made during the 1852-62 period when George Sharp was the superintendent of Bailey & Co.'s silver shop.
George Sharp emigrated from Ireland and entered into the exclusive employment of the great Philadelphia retailers, Bailey & Co. He produced exclusively for Bailey until 1866, becoming "George Sharp (for Bailey & Co.)" after about 1862 when he started his own shop. Sharp is noted for the high quality of his products, many of which were granted design patents.
