Japanese Imari Pouch Bowl
Meiji Period
Of deep rounded form rising to ta scalloped rim, the interior and exterior richly decorated in underglaze blue , iron-red, green and gilt enamels. The center medallion depicts a three-clawed dragon in underglaze blue glaze, surrounded by alternating shaped panels of flowering plants served against densely patterned grounds, the exterior similarly decorated with floral cartouches and scrolling motif. Unmarked.

Diameter: 11 in. (28.5 cm); Height: 6 3/4 in. (18 cm).

Condition: Overall surface wear with scatter scratches, robbing and lose in gilt and enamel decoration, particularly along the scollop rim, and interior walls, no obvious cracks or major restoration, possibly fine hairlines.
