As well as a fine landscape artist Ladislav Struna worked as a film designer, makeup artist, props man, messenger and camera assistant and feature actor. He began filming as a child in 1913 in the film The Prague Student and continued filming after his return from the trenches of World War I, still deep in the pioneering era of silent film. His film career continued successfully in the era of sound film until starring in 1974, ' Weapons for Prague.'



He was a relatively sought-after actor, especially for his unstylized civilian acting and rich-sounding baritone , and he often starred in student films.

He played his last major film role in the 1974 war film Weapons for Prague , where he played the father of the main character, who
