Marbro Company Mid-Century Brass Lamp
In the form of a a standing peacock with plumed tail sheltering a small peacock.
35in (89cm) to fitting.
This peacock in bronze is inspired by the Peacock of the Meissen porcelain 'zoo' made by Johann Kandler in 1734, for the collection of Augustus II.
Sixty-nine different species were ordered, ranging from dogs, foxes, and goats to exotic peacocks, elephants and monkeys, and even three mythical creatures. These animals, some life-sized, stretched the technical and artistic limits of the porcelain medium, only recently discovered in Europe.

The Marbro Lamp Company was established by Morris Markoff and his brother after World War II. Their first shop was located in the garment district of Los Angeles. They specialized in a wide selection of antiques and decorative arts accessories, and are known for the 'Hollywood Regency' style
