Harriet Fishmuth moved to Paris at age 19 and studied with Auguste Rodin, who, would prove to be one of the most influential mentors of her early life. Rodin emphasized the importance of human movement in his teachings, and Frishmuth took note. Her best-known sculptures were heavily influenced by dance.
