Pair of Chinese Shiwan Pottery Figures Late 19th early 20th century. Depicting a pair of dancers, each in traditional Guangzhou style dress glazed in blues and greens. The woman with delicate features on an unglazed face wearing a pleated dress, and shawl the man with a long beard clad in a vest over a long garment. Height of each 29in. (74cm) Provenance: Collected by the consignor's great grandmother in the early 20th century. The young woman was sent from San Francisco to China to live with family, reportedly to discourage her love interest at the time.
