Portrait of an 18th Century Noble Woman
The portrait of an elegant Lady of the Court of Louis XV, dressed in a 'Robe a la Francais' with lace and ribbon trim. She is seated at a dressing table, a string of pearls at hand. Teh portrait is in the style of Boucher's Portrait of Madame Pompadour of 1750.
Within a gilt Rococo frame with ribbon tied finial.

Provenance: From the Collection of James W. Payne, Academy Award winner, 'Best Art Decoration', for the movie The Sting, staring Robert Redford and Paul Newman. The portrait appears on screen behind Robert Redford in the home of the mob boss he is conning.
Condition: 4in. tear at left of figure.
