Andrew Bell Forbes was a California Argonaut, arriving in SF via Panama in 1849. He didn't head to the gold fields but became an agent for the lucrative Pacific Mail Steamship Company shipping mail and goods from Panama to all the west coast cities of California and Oregon, he and later a manager for the Mutual Life of New York.
