Naturalistically carved from Duan stone in the form of a furies lotus leaf, with overlapping lobed edges, a curved stem-form handle and several cylindrical supports rising from the interior. The underside is incised with an inscription including "Shizhuzhi" (Ten Bamboo Studio) and an additional signature.
Size: approx. 13 in. width, 4 in. height.

Condition: Multiple cracks, possibly hairlines, fissures and separations throughout, including cracks along body and rims, possibly old repairs, wears and discoloration.

Catalog note: Shizhuzhai , or the "Ten Bamboo Studio", was the studio name associated with the Ming-dynasty scholar and publisher Hu Zhenyan( 1584-1674). The inscription has not been authenticated, and no firm attribution to Hu Zhenyan.
