Sino-Tibetan Bronze Alloy Figure of Chakrasamvara
Powerfully cast in bronze with dark patina and traces of gilding, depicting the Tantric deity Chakrasamvara in union with his consort Vajravarahi (yab-yum). The six-armed deity stands in alidhasana upon a lotus base, trampling two figures beneath his feet. His principal hands hold a vajra and ghanta while embracing his consort, and his remaining hands brandish various ritual implements including a damaru, khatvanga, skull, and a flaying knife. He is adorned with a crown of skulls, bone ornaments, and a tiger-skin dhoti. The consort, Vajravarahi, wraps her one leg around his waist, one leg stands and gazes into his eyes. The figure is supported on a lotus pedestal.
