Three Chinese Porcelain Snuff Bottles
Late Qing/Republic Period
Comprising three cylindrical porcelain snuff bottles, each of slightly different form and decoration:
First is Famille Rose 'Boy' Snuff Bottle. Cylindrical body painted in famille rose enamels with a seated boy holding a lotus flower on a grassy ground. Blue glass bead stopper with gilt-metal collar. Height: 6.3 cm, 2 1/2 in.
Second is a Famille Verte 'Dragons and Phoenix' Taller cylindrical form decorated with a dragon and phoenix contesting a flaming pearl above crashing waves, painted in green, iron-red, and black enamels. Green hardstone stopper with gilt-metal collar. Height: 8.9 cm, 3 1/2 in
Third is a Blue and White 'Landscape'. Cylindrical body painted in underglaze blue with a mountainous river landscape and pine trees. Matching porcelain stopper. Height: 7.6 cm, 3 in

Condition: All bottles with light surface wear and minor firing imperfections consistent with age. The famille rose example with a few small enamels losses and kiln grit to base. The dragon and phoenix bottle with minor pitting and a faint hairline visible inside neck, not extending through. Blue and white example with typical glaze bubbling. Stoppers appear associated. No restoration.
Provenance: Private collection, Marin County.
