Two Chinese Carved Jade Snuff Bottles
Late 19th to early 20th Century.
First is a carved and inscribed celadon jade "monkey and peach tree" snuff bottle, of flattened ovoid form carved in high relief with monkey climbing amidst gnarled peach trees to one side, utilized the russet skin of the stone, the reverse finely carved in relief with vertical calligraphic inscriptions of four characters. Completed with a conforming green hard stone stopper. Height 3 in. (8 cm).
Second is a russet and gray jade snuff bottle, of ovoid vase form with raised foot flanked by Chilong dragon handles. The body of gray cream tone with russet striations, carved with archaic motif. Height 3 in. (8 cm).
