Two Chinese Embroidered Silk Skirts and a Pair of ManChu platform Shoes
Late Qing Dynasty- Early Republic Period
Comprising two pleated silk skirts, one worked on a red ground with polychrome floral embroidery and dark embroidered borders; the other on a green ground, embroidered with flowers, butterflies and auspicious motifs above the hem, with contrasting dark piping and a pale blue waistband. Together with a pair of Manchu 'flowerpot' platform shoes, the embroidered uppers embellished with large tasted ornaments, raised on white-covered central platforms.
Size: the length of the largest skirt: 33 inches, the length of the shoes: 10 in.

Condition: the skirts exhibits creasing, uneven colorations and scattered soil marks, the red ground embroidered skirt missing top waistband. The shoes show wear and discoloration, the tasseled ornaments are frayed and uneven with loose threads. possibly small holes, seam separations and previous repairs.
